CAPE Applied Mathematics Unit 2 · 2018 · Paper 2 · Question 6(b)(ii)

A truck of mass 1800 kg has an engine producing constant power of 90 kW, moving from rest in a straight horizontal line. Air resistance is ignored.

At the instant when the speed is 30 ms^-1, the engine is disengaged and a constant braking force of magnitude F Newtons is applied. The truck comes to rest 6 seconds later. Calculate the magnitude of F and the work done against the braking force during this time.
