CAPE Biology Unit 2 · 2006 · Paper 2 · Question 3(e)(ii)

A recombinant plasmid is constructed by inserting a corn protein gene into plasmid A, disrupting its tetracycline resistance gene, while retaining kanamycin resistance. The plasmid is transformed into E. coli.

Briefly outline a method of detection and what you would observe if E. coli has taken up recombinant DNA.

The mark scheme is shown once you've answered.
