Cotton grows well in high pH soil. Lime is sometimes added to soil to help cotton grow.
A cotton farmer recognizes that his soil needs more nitrogen, and lime, so he adds an ammonium fertiliser and lime to the soil at the same time. Explain how this action could cause nitrogen to be lost. Use a balanced equation to support your answer.
