CAPE Physics Unit 2 · 2003 · Paper 2 · Question 5(b)(i)

A length of Nichrome wire with cross sectional area 2.60 x 10^-6 m^2 has a potential difference of 110 V across it. Nichrome has a resistivity of 5.00 x 10^-7 Omega m. The element dissipates thermal energy at a rate of 5 000 W.

Calculate the current flowing through the wire.
