Experiments I and II determined the relative reactivity of iron, copper, and an unknown Metal X (valency 2). Experiment I: Metal X in copper(II) sulphate solution resulted in copper plating and solution decolorization. Experiment II: Metal X in iron(II) sulphate solution showed no change.
Write an ionic equation for the reaction between Metal X and copper(II) sulphate. Include the relevant state symbols.
