CSEC Chemistry · May/June 2011 · Paper 2 · Question 5(a)(i)

Experiments I and II determined the relative reactivity of iron, copper, and an unknown Metal X (valency 2). Experiment I: Metal X in copper(II) sulphate solution resulted in copper plating and solution decolorization. Experiment II: Metal X in iron(II) sulphate solution showed no change.

Use the information given to place Metal X, copper and iron in the order in which they will appear in the reactivity series, starting with the MOST reactive.

The mark scheme is shown once you've answered.
