Figure 1A is a potential divider circuit splitting 32 V into V1 and V2, with R1 = 33 Ω variable resistor set at Y, and parallel resistors R2 = 8 Ω and R3 = 12 Ω. Figure 1B shows the equivalent circuit.

Calculate the equivalent resistance, R_eq, in Figure 1B.
