CAPE Physics Unit 2 · 2007 · Paper 2 · Question 1(a)

An experiment investigates the magnetic field along the axis of a solenoid wound on a 5 cm square wooden former over a length of 32 cm. The field along an infinitely long solenoid is given by B = μ₀ n I. A circuit with a battery, ammeter, rheostat, and Hall probe with flux meter is used.

State why an ammeter and a rheostat were included in the solenoid circuit.
