A sample of solid sodium chloride (NaCl) was contaminated with iodine crystals (I₂). A student suggested separating iodine from sodium chloride by gently heating the mixture, as shown in Figure 3.
Describe what should be observed when the sample of NaCl and I₂ is heated.
