John and his friend were bitten by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in an area with dengue fever. John did not contract the disease, but his friend did.

Describe how the mode of transmission of dengue fever differs from that of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Use this difference and your knowledge of the immune system to suggest TWO reasons why John did not contract dengue fever.
