CAPE Physics Unit 2 · 2001 · Paper 2 · Question 5(b)(i)

A rectangular slice of semiconductor of thickness 2.5 mm carries a current of 150 mA in a magnetic field of 0.5 T.

A p.d. of 8.75 mV is produced across its edges. Given that the magnitude of charge of each carrier is 1.6 × 10^(-19) C, calculate the number of charge carriers per unit volume, explaining your calculation.
