CSEC Chemistry · January 2005 · Paper 2 · Question 1(c)(iii) continued

Students are given instructions for an experiment: measure 50 cm³ of 2 mol dm⁻³ sodium hydroxide and 50 cm³ of 2 mol dm⁻³ hydrochloric acid. Pour NaOH into a polystyrene cup and measure its temperature. Add HCl to NaOH, stir, and record the highest temperature. Assume 1 cm³ of water has a mass of 1 g, and 4.2 joules of energy raise 1 g of water by 1°C. The task is to write parts of a report.

Write up the Discussion of results as it relates to aim.

The mark scheme is shown once you've answered.
