Question 4 is based on three documents relating to enslaved peoples' survival strategies and experiences. Document I describes the provision grounds allotted to enslaved people and market surplus in Jamaica. Document II describes enslaved women working in the fields with infants on their backs in Barbados. Document III depicts an incident of collective non-compliance and resistance among enslaved women refusing work in Jamaica.

With reference to Document I, explain why it was necessary for enslaved people to be allotted “a small plot” of land.
