CAPE Physics Unit 2 · 2004 · Paper 2 · Question 4(b)(ii)

Two large parallel metal plates 10 cm apart with a uniform electric field between them. An electron is released from the negative plate at the same time a proton is released from the positive plate, passing each other a distance d from the negative plate.

State what assumption was made to calculate the value of d.
