CSEC Chemistry · May/June 2017 · Paper 2 · Question 6(a)(ii)

In solution, two metals A and B form A⁺ and B²⁺ ions respectively. Metal A displaces Fe from a solution containing Fe²⁺ ions but metal B does NOT.

Metal A is placed in a solution of copper(II) sulfate, CuSO₄ (aq). Write an equation for the reaction. State ONE observable change that will occur and explain why this reaction takes place.

The mark scheme is shown once you've answered.
