Compounds A and B are two colourless liquids containing carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. 4.0 g of B contains 60% carbon, 13% hydrogen, and 27% oxygen.

The empirical formula for A is CH₂O. Deduce whether or not A and B belong to the same homologous series. Explain your answer.
