Just before national elections, a newspaper publishes an article alleging that a local youth was caught in a massive financial scam fifteen years ago, a matter purportedly involving Minister Mutt. Later that day, the editor reiterates the claim on the radio, stating, 'Who the cap fits, let him wear it. We stand by our story.' Minister Mutt wishes to bring a defamation claim.

Explain the elements of the tort of defamation that Minister Mutt must prove to succeed against the newspaper.
