Section C: Prose Fiction. Answer ONE question from this section. (25 marks allocated for content and 10 marks for structure, development and competence in the mechanics of writing).

With reference to Harper Lee's 'To Kill a Mockingbird' and the statement 'Issues in society can have negative or positive effects on individuals', write an essay describing ONE major event in Maycomb that affects citizens positively and ONE event that affects citizens negatively. Discuss the effect of ONE of the events described on ONE character, and examine ONE narrative technique the writer uses to portray the effect of societal issues on characters.
