CAPE Physics Unit 2 · 2008 (T&T) · Paper 2 · Question 6(b)(i)

Two plane parallel conducting plates 1.50 \times 10^{-2} m apart, held horizontally, with upper plate at +1.50 \times 10^3 V and lower plate earthed. An oil drop of mass 9.80 \times 10^{-15} kg remains stationary between the plates.

Draw a free body diagram showing the forces acting on the oil drop.
