CAPE Physics Unit 1 · 2004 · Paper 2 · Question 5(b)(ii)

Two trolleys are used to investigate collisions. A trolley of mass 1.60 kg is pushed and hits a second trolley, of mass 0.80 kg, moving in the same direction but at a lower speed. The experiment is repeated and results are shown for 1st and 2nd collisions.

Determine whether the collisions are elastic or inelastic.

The mark scheme is shown once you've answered.
