Apparatus is set up to measure the rate of transpiration of a potted plant located in a room beside an open window over a 12-hour period. The apparatus includes a well-watered plant, a tightly sealed polythene bag enclosing the pot and soil, and a beam balance.

State ONE precaution that should be taken to ensure that the results are accurate.
