CAPE Applied Mathematics Unit 2 · 2016 · Paper 2 · Question 5(a)(i)

A fixture is supported by strings A and B inclined at θ° and 30° to the horizontal ceiling respectively; tension TA = 50 N. Take g = 10 m s⁻².

Use Lami's theorem, or otherwise, to show that the weight of the fixture is 50((cos θ)/√3 + sin θ).

The mark scheme is shown once you've answered.
