Figure 1 shows a reaction scheme involving organic compounds A, B, C, D, E, and intermediates I and II. Compound A is a ketone, B is a cyanohydrin, C is a carboxylic acid, D is an acyl chloride, and E is an ester. Reaction I converts A to B, reaction II converts A to C, and D is formed from C, which then reacts with ethanol in the presence of triethylamine to form E.

State the reagents and conditions for reaction I (from A to B).
