Figure 1 shows an electron beam passing between charged horizontal plates, V1 and V2, and being deflected to form a spot on a fluorescent screen. All motion occurs in a vacuum. V1 and V2 are separated by 12 mm and have a potential difference of 50 V between them.

Determine the magnitude of the electric field between the plates.
