A load of 30 N is hung from a copper wire 5 m long and 1.0 mm in diameter to keep it taut. Weights are then added, and the corresponding increase in lengths is read off from a scale. The readings are recorded in the table.
Calculate the elastic energy stored in the wire just before the wire became permanently stretched.
