Sodium chloride is a typical salt of sodium metal. A concentrated sodium chloride solution (brine) can undergo electrolysis when it is used as an electrolyte in an electrolytic cell using inert electrodes.
Write the half equations, including state symbols, for the reaction that occurs at the anode and cathode during the electrolysis of concentrated sodium chloride solution (brine).
