Figure 6 illustrates the trends in the amount of crude oil transported by sea and the amount of oil spilled by tankers worldwide from 1970 to 2010.

Geographical and demographic factors could give rise to the trend in the seaborne oil trade while technological factors could give rise to the trend in the amount of oil spilled as illustrated in Figure 6. Explain this statement.
