CAPE Law Unit 2 · 2005 · Paper 1 · Question 6

Morris rents a flat to Elaine, a prostitute, and is a regular client of hers there. They later agree that Elaine will provide sexual services twice a week instead of paying monetary rent. After two months, Elaine claims Morris is taking advantage of her, limits her services to once a week, and refuses further unpaid services. Morris threatens legal action for the rent, while Elaine argues the contract is tainted with illegality.

Giving reasons for your answer, advise Morris whether Elaine's contention is sound in law.

The mark scheme is shown once you've answered.
