The carbon cycle describes the process in which carbon atoms continually travel from the atmosphere to the Earth and then back into the atmosphere. Figure 1 presents a simplified version of the carbon cycle with some processes, labelled A to E.

Identify the components labelled A, B, C, D and E in Figure 1.
